The dull days of February
Hello myself and all the others of you who might be peeking in. I'm doing well, I think. And you...? Well as well I hope. All right, enough of the nice-guy drivel. Today my rant is against the businesses for which we work. I don' know about you, but I hate to be told what to do without some sort of recognition or reasoning. "You are going to be here for a mandatory meeting every week!" even though it often has nothing to do with you as you are hourly and those who must stay are salary. For instance, some certain nameless company decided last Friday, weekly meeting day, to waste the first 1/2 hour on a situation of which everyone already had been apprised. Then there were obligatory committee meetings, of which there are too many committees to get anything accomplished, for 1 hour. Next, and this is the kicker, everyone was supposed to put on sweats and do an hour of aerobics. This is not something that is wrong, if you are so inclined. BUT, it IS something that should NEVER be forced upon someone. Also it should be said that it is a complete waste of time for an hourly person that is actually a contractor.
There is another side. I am a contractor but these people insist on trying to tell me all the things I have to do. My contract says nothing of the sort. The meeting thing is not mentioned. The time frames are not mentioned, Specified days are not mentioned, participation in Red Cross CPR training is not mentioned. In fact it seems as though they want me to be within their employ but do not want to pay my taxes. Isn't that odd??? Anyway, that's enough for now. I'll be back. Thanks for listening.
