International House of Pancakes in Willoughby, Ohio
I sincerely dislike the fact that I have to once again write to you regarding the Willoughby, Ohio store, but it is a must. I took this day and the offers given by you to take my mother and step father to IHOP for their anniversary and my sister for her birthday, although, as last time, the food was good, again the service was awful. It started off poorly. As soon as we walked in the door we were discussing, amongst ourselves, whether or not we wanted smoking (there were no other people in the waiting area). The hostess said something to us without waiting for us to complete our own conversation, then after about 15 seconds, she said very loudly, "Hello!!!" as if she had the right to interrupt our conversation in order for us to acknowledge her. (again let me impress upon you there were no other people waiting behind us, therefore the was no reason for speed) She then took us to a booth, there were five of us and three weigh over 220 pounds, there was a five-top right next to the booth. We asked for the table instead and she sighed loudly enough for everyone in the party to hear. All that was before we even sat down.
The dinner itself was relatively uneventful, but our server did the same thing to me as happened before. I was attempting to tell him my order when he interrupted me and talked over what I was saying, which would have answered what he asked if he would have shut his mouth and waited for 10 seconds. He then, now remember we are sitting at a table, reached in front of me to give my mother her plate and did the same thing when retrieving the plates. There was more than enough room for him to have walked around like any good server should. This was at 4:26PM today, 4/29/2006.
You really need to do something about your service staff. They have to be some of the worst I have ever encountered as a group. In fact at one point there were 12 of them all standing around, on the floor milling about, doing nothing but talking to each other. (Yes they were all wait staff, none were bussers or others.) What an embarrassment to take someone somewhere and have the staff so disconnected to service.
