Feel the Mission Impossible Theme in the background of your mind.

No, it wasn’t really like that. Anyway, We arrived and the first thing asked was whether or not they had all day breakfast, the answer, thankfully, was yes. I have been on a major health kick for a couple of months and have done well with weight and medical numbers, but, damn, sometimes I just need some shit food. Well that’s what they had and what I ordered.

I would like to warn you that the front parking lot is small and felt confusing but that is another thing, just be prepared. Now we go on to the rest of the place. I believe I have written about this before, but I really hate the wide-open spaces some of these places put off as comfortable. I prefer a few walls here and there to break up the room, but, as is usually the case, that is just my opinion. My companion actually made a comment that it was nice and cozy feeling. Maybe the huge Christmas tree in the center and the eight or so hanging fake plants made her feel that way.

We were quickly seated at a decent sized booth and given menus after being asked for our drink orders. I really didn’t look at the entire menu too closely as I only wanted breakfast, which was on the back. The slight perusal I did give it showed typical “family” restaurant type of fare. There were omelets, French toast, Hotcakes, and steak and egg meals, along with the obligatory artery bomb of Sausage Gravy and Biscuits. I ordered eggs, sausage, two hotcakes and a side of hash browns. My cohort ordered her normal French toast with sausage. My iced tea seemed to be a bit old but it was OK. I was slightly shocked that no potato came with either meal but did with about eight on the top of the menu.

It took seemingly about four freaking hours for the food to get to the damned table because we were fucking hungry. Actually it was probably more like 10 minutes. Everything came out warm, except the syrup, which was even on the menu as being “our own warm syrup.” The eggs, which I ordered over medium as always, were underdone, but the sausages, which were about double the size of most, were great. My side of hash browns was just the way I like them, but too much to finish. They were crispy on the outside and almost like mashed potatoes on the inside. There was no seasoning to speak of, but I like that as well. My friend was happy with her French toast because, for a change, it did not have any powdered sugar covering.
Our server was OK at Anthony’s this day. She seemed a bit stressed a couple of times and asked a question she didn’t wait for us to answer, which is actually quite typical when it comes to the, “How is everything today?” thing. She placed our check on the table before asking if we needed anything else including drinks. Kind of like, “It is time for you to leave now, so get a move on.” Too many times I have had to wait for my bill, this time it seemed like they just wanted us out. Oh, well. Maybe there is a happy medium somewhere. I will continue my long-suffering search and let you know, as usual, about the journey. Thanks for ending another year with me and a beginning another.
