Steak and SHIT in Willoughby, Ohio
I cannot fucking believe this company!!!!! I have never had more consistently bad experiences at any chain in my life. Maybe there are certain stores WITHIN a chain that have consistently bad management BUT an entire chain???? What in the hell is wrong with you people????
Actually, I might know what it is that's wrong. While we were eating, I noticed an interview being conducted diagonally from us. The young man being interview was so scruffy-looking I probably wouldn't have even let him in my house, let alone interviewed him for a job. In fact, I would have taken one look at him and told him to come back when he was cleaned up and ready to interview for a JOB. His hair looked as though it had not been washed in days; his shoes were dirty and had paint spots all over them; his shirt was un-tucked; he leaned on the table rather than sitting straight up, and his pants looked to be a bit over-worn. If we keep allowing people to come into our establishments looking like scum from the streets. that is what they will act like. There was even a kid behind the line with a neck tattoo. That should not be. I do not mind the neck tats on felons or hidden from view but I do not want to see them on someone making my food. Poor hiring practices equal poor service. That should not be a news flash, but, as I observed, it must be to those of you at Steak n Shake. Get a fucking clue!!!!!!!!!
It was August 14th at approximately 7PM, when we decided to try the newest in the Steak and Shake chain. I will NEVER go back. This time we ordered a very easy thing. My companion ordered a plain steak burger and fries with water. I ordered a combo with frozen yogurt shake and onion rings and cheese with cottage cheese. We were told that the cottage cheese would be right out. The burgers got there first and mine did not have any cheese. The server, who was not the original order taker looked at the burger as if she had never heard something so ludicrous in her life. In fact, the bun even hit her chest while she was, I guess, looking for the cheese that was obviously not there.
I took one bite of burger and had one onion ring when I noticed there was dried cheese on the plate. Now, before you stick up for anyone, let me explain. The cheese was on the OTHER side of the plate from the burger, under the onion rings, AND because they did not put the cheese on my burger right after cooking but did it later, there was no meltage. This was from a previous customer. When I finally got the server's attention, about ten minutes, she acted appalled. She asked if she could do anything like get me another burger. I declined and said I would pay for the Shake but nothing else. At that time a manager, Vernon, came over (pulling up a chair to sit down with us which was very odd) and asked the same question. I gave him the same answer. He came back and acted as though he had done us a HUGE favor by taking the combo off the ticket but leaving the shake on, which is exactly what I had told him. HE HAD NO FUCKING CHOICE! What the fuck was he going to do. tell me he would not take the food off my ticket when I ate very little and HIS plate was dirty??? Don't be a fucking fool!!!
Then when we went up to pay, my companion used her coupon that she had for her meal. The manager, again, acted like he had done us a huge favor by taking off the food that he HAD to take off and refused to honor her coupon. I immediately asked for his name and the return of the ticket and told him I was going to write to the corporate office.
I do not want ANYTHING from them EXCEPT to get a new training manual and maybe tell people in their employ how to act in the service industry. I would clean that entire house and start over if I were them.
