Carrabba's Italian Grill in Westlake, Ohio

Yea Hah! We finally made it on a day, and time, they were open. We were the second table in the place. Be forewarned... they do not open until 4PM on the weekdays, which was where we fell the last attempt we made. Coming in from a hazy day, we still needed time to adjust to the poorly lit interior of this establishment. Neither my companion nor myself could even see the carpet until we had been seated for a couple of minutes. Kind of makes one wonder why they need it so dark. Is it dirty or something? That goes for the incredibly busy design on the tables. You could never see if anything was on them because of the myriad of colors and shapes. I would prefer plain colors of you need to be colorful, OR how about a white linen tablecloth? After all the napkins were cloth. Anyway, I would think about changing those two things. Now on to the dining part of the experience.

We were immediately greeted by the hostess and taken to our seats. She was perky enough but did not seem very genuine in her greeting. Our server was very efficient. She, Kelly, was there when we sat down, offered us our drinks, and even offered wines. Kelly also offered to explain any questions I might have about the menu as it was my first experience. I thought that was a nice touch. When she returned with our drinks we ordered the shrimp scampi appetizer. The wording was somewhat strange in the "garlic toast for dipping" sounds as if you dip things into the garlic toast depending upon how one might read it. It came out within about 10 minute at which time we ordered our entrees of Lobster Ravioli and Scampi Damian. The Appetizer was superb, except for the flavorless garlic toast. The sauce was divine and the shrimp were done perfectly. It was something I will make every attempt to duplicate.

Our main course came out just as we were completing the appetizer, perfect timing. The Scampi Damian plate was full and looked wonderful. The Lobster Ravioli plate, by comparison looked completely bare. There were only 9 ravioli for $16.00; that's over $1.77 per ravioli. I suppose that if the flavor was as good as the Scampi, which had the same sauce as the appetizer with, it seemed, a bit more spicy kick, though not too much, I would have been happy to pay that, but, alas, it was not. In fact I was very disappointed by the Raviloi. It had very little lobster taste and the sauce was bland. I later mixed my leftovers of both dishes, then the raviloi was much better.

I am going to recommend the Scampi appetizer and Scampi Damian. But, in my estimation, you should stay the hell away from the Lobster Raviloi unless you just want to taste pasta in a very bland sauce.

Kelly, you deserve kudos for your efficiency, but... You might lighten up a bit. Things do not need to be taken so seriously by one so young. You are good at what you do so, have a little fun while you're doing it. One other thing. I have seen this time and time again in various establishments from the corner bar to The Ritz. DO NOT seat more than two large people at a booth. It is very uncomfortable and thoughtless. No more than 4 people to a both no matter how large they are unless they have access from both sides. I watched a family of five kids and two adults get seated at a booth and was absolutely astonished. What the fuck is wrong with you people? Anyway, that was the rant for this place.
