Burgers and Beer and Breakfast in Willoughby

Sunday, October 21st, two companions and I went to the above named establishment at about noon. They serve a weekend breakfast until 1PM so we figured we would try them out. For any of you who have gone to anything in Downtown Willoughby, you know that the parking is awful, but it is not a very long walk throughout the entire area. We parked in the large public lot by the Willoughby Brewing Company and walked through the alley. By the way, whomever owns the property with the high fence that effectively cuts the rear of the Burgers.. place off from the parking lot should be drawn and quartered. What possible use would having an 8 foot fence without access have to you? It would be nice to make the entire area much more pedestrian friendly then it MIGHT just pick up and become a "Little Coventry."

The menu is quite ordinary fare and appeared to be very reasonably priced. There was nothing over $6.00 on the menu, at least not that I noticed. Our server, Lois, was right there to take our drink order, which was two iced teas and a coffee, there is a reason I am actually writing this. She dropped them off and, before we were even ready to order came back to ask, "How is everything?" We turned to each other with that, "What the fuck?" look and said, in one voice, you know the one that says, "Did you really ask what I think you did?" "Uh, yeah."

She told us that the tea was unlimited refill so we should "drink up." I honestly think it was because she realized she had not yet taken our order before asking the pat question about how good things were. I ordered two over medium eggs, I know that shocks those of you regulars to my ranting, pancakes, sausage and a side of home fries. My companions ordered scrambled eggs with sausage and French Toast AND biscuits and gravy respectively.

None of us could come up with anything better to say than that everything was, "OK." The home fries were thin which I like but had no seasoning. The pancakes were fluffy but blah. The sausage gravy was boring without much sausage flavor. The French Toast was thin sliced bread that anyone could make at home. Worst of all was the fact that there was very little yolk in my over medium eggs. It is not difficult to do, people. Just cook them about a minute longer than over easy, 30 seconds each side. I do not want the albumen to be runny in any way but the yolk should be.

Lois must have stopped by at least four times asking what she had done wrong, because we DID laugh after her original strange question. Then we did not want more tea, and did not complete our meals. She was a bit too neurotic to be waiting tables, especially ours. Relax woman, it is only a little restaurant.

Just, OK is all I can say.
