Lakeshore Lounge on October 12th
I have got to tell you all, this place should not equate to what I have to say. Every time I go to this hole in the wall BAR, and let me tell you it IS a BAR, I am incredibly impressed with the food I get.
This time, on the Oktoberfest Weekend, I was surprised to have had the $11.00 plate. I was able to have a piece of the schnitzel, the brats, some potato pancake, a bit of sauerkraut, German Potato salad, and a portion of Slovenian sausage. For the price no one in this world or any other could have gone wrong. My companion and I did what we usually do and went in with a supposition that things would go wrong. It was not the case, for once.
The food that was presented to us was phenomenally huge. I cannot understand how one person could even think of eating the quantity all at once. The next thing, and all important, is that the flavor was out of this world. I have NEVER tasted veal that was nearly as good as that that they were able to procure. I have been to many a place and they usually placate me when asked. The people at the Lakeshore Lounge actually served me some veal, while the others often say it is veal and ultimately serve a pork patty, well beaten.
I believe that places such as this are the ones that we should all patronize. Without the non-corporate entities this country will fold, AND if this place continues to serve food that is ANYTHING like that which I had the ability to eat, the country is sorely lacking in a culinary action that should make the best of chefs jealous.
I want to re-visit the schnitzel. I love veal and have RARELY been able to find it, rightfully so because of it outrageous price. The flavor is very distinct. It is just like a bite beyond regular beef.
The cuts that were made of the schnitzel at the Lakeshore Lounge were incredible. They told me they had gotten some cuts, through a distributor I do not recall, that were not prepared. Then they added their own breading, (very understated and, obviously to most whom have a clue, not overpowering) which included an egg wash, that only enhanced the meat. I know some have a problem eating BABY COW, but, so be it. Veal is the ultimate meat in my mind.
For the rest of you, and I know who ou are, BLOW ME. The little guys should run the world. At least I know their food is what I expect, unless you are lying to me as well.
