Family Foods in Mentor, Ohio
I am the first person to want to help the small local business, but, you as that business better do some, at least minor, ass kissing to keep me from going somewhere with better selection and cheaper prices. You all fucked that one up on Saturday the 15th of December 2007.
I go into the store at least three times a week for various sundry items and have since before the fire. In fact, I like most people in the area were greatly saddened when your establishment burned and took seemingly forever to re-open. Now, I am sorry I even cared. For the past few months I have been noticing and attitude amongst some of your employees, including some behind the counter near lottery. Most of the time, though, it has been the younger females. Many times they will talk amongst themselves rather than acknowledge their customers. (I really hate to have to make someone acknowledge my presence especially when I am their customer and directly responsible, in however a slight manner, for them having a job in the first place.)
There are a few very competent and nice employees you have, such as: Donna, Laura, and the two guys you have working in your deli. John in the meat department is also always nice. You, Frank, are usually decent, too, but what you did and the way you acted on the day I previously mentioned is something I will have a hard time letting go. When I waited in line to buy $100.00 worth of the new lottery tickets for gifts, as well as $30 more in other items, you made me feel, not only like some kind of moron but, like a criminal. You stated that one is not allowed to use "credit" to buy lottery. For one, and I tried to tell you this but you refused to listen, I do not USE credit in your establishment. It was a debit transaction just like everything else I always do there. Next you got a bit snippy and walked away. The woman handling the remainder of the transaction asked me to write a check. For some reason I have never been able to write a check at Family Foods since you re-opened, which is not important here EXCEPT to say that is why I ALWAYS use the debit card. The check wouldn't go through and you, thereby, added to my embarrassment, Thanks!!! You then came back and acted just as shitty. I saw nothing written anywhere on the counter and have never seen such a thing. Do not assume people know things.
This rule about credit and lottery may be a law, and I am having a very hard time finding it, but I know for sure that is not the case for debit, which is checking with less hassle. Thanks for pissing me off so much that I will go just about anywhere but your store, at least for a while. I write four blogs and DO have a readership, so I want you to know my word of mouth is out. It is very disheartening for me to think that I CONSTANTLY told my friends and family to go to your store because you were local and small and then you were so incredibly fucking rude to me. In fact, the entire reason I was there to begin with, and I had already been three other places with lottery, was that I wanted a local business to get whatever commission might be had if one of my tickets won. All this was about keeping small business intact. I have cannot remember EVER being more disgusted by a local business in this neighborhood. I am ashamed of myself for ever having stuck up for you and will let everyone know I was mistaken about Mentor Family Foods. Good Job!!!!!
