OH Canada and the Days Inn Clifton Hill/Casino

I must preface this by saying I write a consumer advocacy blog back in the States and my sensibilities are in a bit of a quandry. There are things I really love about it but things also that get worse and worse every year. I have come with my familly and friends to stay at the above mentioned hotel for three years running now, but I think this will be the last one there. There is a young woman who was there, I think, each year, and she is great and will take time to explain, though I still disagree about the idea of NOT reserving rooms. I used to run a hotel in a resort area and we would definitely reserve a room for someone we knew had been to the hotel before. If we put anyone in that room prior to his arrival , we would just tell them that if they wanted to stay extra, they would have to move to another room. Never was anyone angry about that, but I digress, there was a younger woman behind the desk this morning upon check out that should be immediately fired. I wanted to come nack in to complain but was so disgusted, I though I might say more than was polite. She was very condescending to me when I told her that I would be paying for one room and the others in my party would take care of their own. My card had reserved everything, therefore I knew what would have been charged and how. She told me, "YOU WILL BE CHARGHED IF THEY DON'T SHOW UP!" I was done in a very haughty manner as if I did not know how it worked, and I was absolutely offended.

I then looked at my receipt and found something a bit amiss. When I asked she explained that the GST was charged on two different thing each day, parking and room. BUT, then she went on to explain that the taxes are paid by, "YOU PEOPLE TO PAY FOR WATER AND OUR STREETS YOU DRIVE ON SO WE DON'T HAVE TO PAY TO FIX THEM UP!" I don't know how accurate she was, but I am feeling it was not far off. Regardless, she has no place in the tourist industry if she has such disdain for the very thing that allowed her to have the job she used as a forum to be rude and disrepectful to me. There were also some problems in the rooms, though they were minor, but you all should look into them for your own safety and savings. Room 509 has a leaky tub spigot, room 511 has a deadbolt that does not work, and in room 507 there was water leaking around the light in the ceiling of the bathroom.

We are diligently looking for a different venue for next year all beacuse of the nasty female this morning. Oh, and I might suggest you try an affiliation with something other than Applebee's and Remington. We all had a horrible experience at Remington, two years in a row, and Applebee's especially the one that is "open" in the front of the hotel is a joke when we are there.
As you may notice, by my birthdate, I did not just fall off the turnip truck, and I just might have a bit of knowledge. In short, watch who you hire and make sure you NEVER assume someone is what you might perceive them to be. You have no idea who or what I am or do and/or how many people read what I publish. Think about it!!!!!
