Abuela's on Harvard and Richmond Roads

As you have no doubt discerned, I love my Mexican food. And, to preface, the food here was excellent, though much more pricey than most places.

Service in this uppity establishment made me want to find a palapa with a food cart and be on my merry way.

We walked in to a half full place that had lost our reservation, which was only for eight. The server, though not awful, was incredibly odd. She kept making off the proverbial cuff semi-rude comments at the most inappropriate times and was awful about keeping us informed.

The drink order took an outrageous 15 minutes to fill, then the birthday girl ordered a nachos dish for an appetizer that took over 30 minutes. The regular salsa and tortilla chips that you might get at any Mexican or Tex-Mex style restaurant were in a ridiculously small tub while the three flavors of salsa were in small ramekins.

I am not being specific for reasons that should be obvious.

My suggestion is to find an authentic place run and staffed by people from south of the border abd eat some real food. The price will be better, the service is usually impecable and they do not skimp on the chips and salsa.
Stay away from this corporate misstep.
