Willoughby, Ohio Police incompetence.

You know? I hate to even have to write this, I know, I've said that before, but so be it. At my age I would have thought, not that I am that old mind you, I would no longer even think of the police let alone have dealings with them. Don't get me wrong, I was a typical teenager and young adult in my regular runs-in with the proverbial men in blue, but at 40ish that shit should be over. Well, it ain't.
Early this morning, very close to 1:30AM, as I and a friend were helping yet another friend close the bar where she works, we noticed at least two police cars turning south down Garden Rd. This is not an everyday occurrence, therefore it caught my eye and continued to do so as I watched them shine their spotlights through the yards up and down the street. Obviously they were looking for something or someone, but we did not know whom as we had been the only people in the bar for the last hour or more.
As we left, an officer came into the parking lot and up the ramp on the northwest side of the building. He asked if we had had any trouble or seen a man with a yellow t-shirt and a suitcase. We stated that we had not and proceeded to head toward the car. It took a bit of jockeying so maybe three minutes later we had loaded up and were about to pull out of the single parking spot on the northeast side of the building. Surprise, surprise, another officer pulls in, with his spots hitting us full force, behind us blocking our ability to move. (Mind you, he was in the bike path which is something all police officers seem to think they can block on a whim, but that is a different problem.) He was partially in the street and did not have his flashing lights on either.
He came up to our car with a pure stance of attitude. I was in the rear passenger seat with two women in the front. He said absolutely nothing to them and came directly to me saying, "And, who are you?" There was no preface, no leading question, just a very rudely stated phrase as written above. I originally did not answer as there was no reason whatsoever for his question and the way it was presented, but eventually I stated my name. He then mumbled something about a man in a red shirt they were looking for, even though we had just been told it was a yellow shirt.

First off, and I am sorry I did not get this second officer's name as he has no place bullying people just because he has a badge. It is officers like him that give the entire profession a bad name. Secondly, I would think that maybe, just maybe, it would be intelligent for officers to communicate with one another and figure for whom they are actually looking. Granted there aren't usually a great deal of people out at 1:30AM on Lakeshore Boulevard in Willoughby, but that is not the point. One guy said yellow the other said red. Don't play stupid bullshit games when you haven't been smart enough to talk to your fellow officers.

It is my belief that the Willoughby Police department must have at least one incompetent within its ranks. Color-blindness aside, it must be very difficult to coordinate a search when no one knows what you are searching for. One is looking for one thing and one is looking for another. Even more important, we were the ones on the streets. We could have helped find the person as we traveled home, but did not know what to look for. Hell, since one said yellow and another said red, it might have fucking been blue. Good job boys. Get your heads out of your asses and think.
