Charlotte's Ice Cream on Lost Nation in Willoughby
It has finally happened you all. I found a place with nothing to complain about. Granted it is not a sit down restaurant but so what. I have hoped for years that someone would be able to open the place and make it work. These folks seem to have done just that. I have been twice and think their ice cream is the best around. It has that wonderful creamy texture that just makes your mouth water, in fact mine is doing so as I write.
The first time I tried just a plain vanilla cone, which is the tell-tale sign of good versus OK or even downright awful ice cream of custard. It tasted almost like custard but not quite. Truthfully, on that first trip, the place didn't even yet have a name to my knowledge.
The second time I tried a butterscotch flurry type of thing. It was incredible. I asked a woman, whom I suppose might just have been Charlotte, whether or not they served custard. She informed me that their cream was as close to custard as one could get without being so because it was very high in milk fat. Oh hush you weight conscious people. I am watching my waist (grow and grow and grow) too, but sometimes you just have to indulge.
Anyway, I recommend this place very highly and think you would do yourself a major disservice if you missed giving them a try. Oh, and on an added note, I just drove by this evening, Tuesday, July 15th and noticed a few classic cars parked in the lot to the south. Good idea.
Good luck guys, and keep up the good work. Help those kids back there get a bit more organized, though.
