IHOP/Denny's
Well, here goes again. I am not shocked at what has happened, but it DOES make me wonder how it can continue. My perennial companion and I decided we wanted some breakfast in the middle of the afternoon on a Monday. We were driving down the road in Willoughby so the thought of IHOP hit us. Yes, we have NEVER had a good experience there, BUT the food is most often good. So, we decided to try once again. Bad fucking move!
We walked in and were quickly greeted by someone not in uniform but in some casual dress. We suspected that she was possibly a manager. She correctly asked us if we wanted a booth or table to which we were noncommittal. The booth she led us to had some noticeable things wrong, which we saw upon approach. My companion noticed a red stain, while I noticed a spot in the center. The stain was just that but the spot was syrup.
That same “manager” came up and attempted to ask us what we wanted to drink. I tried to get her to wipe the table but instead she kept on talking. When I tried to stop her again, she gave me a look that could stop a train. My cohort noticed the look as I did. She acted as though I had yelled at her, which is absolutely not the case; we only wanted the table cleaned so we would not have to touch the syrup. She stalked (and that is the only word I can use to explain it) away and took about five minutes to return with a rag. My friend watched her walk around much too much to “find” the wet rag. When she returned, I asked for a manager, to which she replied that she was one. I then tried to explain that she had handled that poorly as I was only trying to get her to understand that the table needed to be cleaned. She then AGAIN talked over me saying that I had spoken out of turn. We, obviously, go up and left. I think this is finally the last fucking time I will go to that place.
Due to this bullshit, we decided to go to Denny’s right down the road. Now, as you know, the food quality at Denny’s has gone downhill recently, but we wanted breakfast. We were quickly greeted and seated, at a CLEAN table mind you. Our server, Sonya, was bubbly, knowledgeable and nice without seeming fake in any way. She was that way throughout. As you can tell, this is NOT at all about the food this time; this is purely about the service. Anyway, I just want everyone to know; the Denny’s on Euclid Avenue in Willoughby has an incredibly wonderful server by the name of Sonya. If you get the chance, sit in her section and tell her I sent you. You will not be disappointed. As for IHOP; it is no wonder your staff is so fucking bad, your management team is obviously filled with bitchy morons.
