Chipotle on 306 at 1PM on Friday August 1, 2008.
I don't honestly recall if I have written about this place before, but this time I was forced. My Godson, Jr., has been making me go here lately as it is one of his favorite places to eat.I have never been a real fan because the uses too much cilantro AND the burritos are juts too ungainly. He turned me on to the bowl concept and it became better.
Anyway, we went at a very busy time and I ordered "off" the menu to get a quesadilla, not that it should have been difficult in a place that has grills, tortillas and cheese. The problems began when I noticed other people's orders being pushed up next to then beyond ours, Junior had already ordered his meal but I was afraid it would be lost int the mix so I asked him to watch it. By the time my order came to me, three other people had gone beyond us.
I watched them pull the quesadilla out of the warmer at the beginning of the line then put it on the working surface. I asked for chicken, mild and corn salsa. They complied by ripping the qeusadilla apart and shoving the requested stuff inside then putting it back together. I think they should have put all that stuff in BEFORE putting it in the warmer so it could have all cooked together. This was not earth shattering but the next was the proverbial icing on the cake. I watched closely as they attempted to bag my order. On the bottom, where they had unwrapped and, attempted to, re-wrapped the tortilla there was a space of about 6 inches diameter that was just tortilla. They were putting it in the bag and I was so stunned I almost let them before asking for it to be re-wrapped COMPLETELY. The look on the female's face told me she had no idea of what I was speaking. I explained as best I could while being beaten back by the growing crowd and after three tries got her to see that my quesadilla was open to the elements. I know my kid likes this place, but I won't soon return.
