Cleveland Ohio RTA
Open letter to those who run the Cleveland, Ohio Regional Transit Authority:
It is high time you made sure your drivers have a clue. I am sick and tired of them causing near accidents and other from of consternation just because they are bigger. I have to follow the damned traffic laws, so should they. If there is oncoming traffic, they are not supposed to block it. If I am coming up on the lane to the left of them, they are not supposed to move over until I have passed. If, as happened today, I am turning on an arrow and they are attempting to make a left turn on red (not onto a one way street) they are not supposed to flip me off as I was the only one following the traffic laws. What the hell is going on with your organization. I realize it is a governmental entity, but does that give you the right to just step on everyone and treat others as if they should bow to the great and powerful RTA. Not in my world. In fact, I know I am not the only one who is getting sick and tired of the way RTA is run. The future will show a flurry of disgust.
My specific problem? This morning, May 23, 2006 at 8:23AM I was flipped-off (shown the middle finger in case you did not know what I meant) by an RTA bus driver for following the traffic laws. I was driving west bound on Euclid Avenue in East Cleveland when I attempted to make a left hand turn on to Taylor Road. There was an RTA bus coming north from Taylor, but it was already beginning to turn west bound. This bus had a red light as I had a left turn green arrow at the time. As I was attempting to maneuver around the bus, I looked at the drive who made sure I saw that he was flipping me off. I believe the bus number was 2693 but am not sure. I have no idea as to why he thought he had a right to be angry with me, but thing such as that should not happen. He was breaking the law and I was following it, yet I was the one who got flipped off. Please research this incident and determine who was driving the bus. That man, black and about middle aged (late 30s to mid 40s), should be removed from driving.
